If you’ve never heard of SAS before, then let’s give you a bit of information about them. SAS (Southland Archery Supply) is a popular manufacturer of quality bows and has been serving hunters and bowmen alike for well over a decade.

We love the laminated wood riser on this bow – not only does it look great, but it also feels great in your hand. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with preinstalled bushings for you to attach your stabilizer, quiver, or plunger – so you may need a drill handy if you want to add on these accessories.
It does, however, come equipped with a bowstring, unlike some of the other SAS bows we’ve reviewed recently. Like most SAS bows, the Courage Takedown Recurve Bow is generally quite easy to assemble, even if you’ve never assembled a bow before.
You’ll need tools with you – specifically an Allen key, so it’s not ideal for regular assembly and disassembly. You’re best off leaving the bow assembled until you want to add an accessory to it.
The limbs are super sturdy and durable and should last you a long time without seeing any signs of wear and tear or damage. The long limbs give it an AMO length of 60 inches, which is somewhat shorter than other similar models on the market.
The limb size makes it ideal for archers of smaller stature, and it can even be used as a junior bow. If you know your bows, you’ll notice some similarities to the Samick Sage when using the SAS Courage.
It shoots in a similar way and is just as quiet – perfect for hunting.
However, beginners may want to opt for a bow that is more forgiving. The shorter limbs on the SAS Courage means for less forgiveness when shooting but makes it somewhat easier to carry around with you, whether you’re creeping through trees or strolling to the range.
