Ravin R29 Product Review

Ravin is one of the world’s premium crossbow brands, which is compatible with bowhunters with an excellent level of expertise.

These crossbows fall on the more expensive side of the price spectrum and therefore, will struggle to entertain consumers on a tight budget.

Let’s meet the Ravin R29 Crossbow.

Specifications:

  • Velocity: 430 FPS
  • Kinetic Energy: 164 ft/lb
  • Powerstroke: 12.5-inches
    Length: 29-inches
  • Axle to Axle (cocked): 6-inches
  • Axle to Axle (uncocked): 10.5-inches
  • Weight: 6.75 lb

The R29 is a new model for Ravin, and it is an incredible 5.5-inches shorter than the R20 without compromising its performance. It still delivers arrows at 430 FPS with a punishing 164-food pounds of kinetic energy.

It features a 12.5-inches power stroke with an overall length of 29-inches and weight of 6.75 pounds, which makes it an ideal size and weight to carry around during sporting events or when on a hunt.

Compact and narrow, it is an excellent choice and won’t burden your next crossbow experience. If anything, it will enhance your performance and bring success to your next game or hunting session.

Ravin is known for creating products that not only optimize performance but crossbows that also look the part. We were particularly impressed with the R29’s sleek design with an incredible axle-to-axle, which is a mere 6-inches when fully-drawn.

The R29 is a structurally stable crossbow as it comes with a solid bridge on the front to back. Its updated grip also creates a comfortable experience for users, while increasing shooting accuracy.

There are many improvements with the R29, including how robust it is and the increase in speed and power output. Some critics might see the jumps in speed and power are small, but it will have a significant impact on the accuracy of your target jumping the string or not.

Durability

It is constructed from the same materials and features the same design as its sibling product, the R26. The R29 is slightly harder due to the increase in mass.

Ravin is known for providing consumers with heavy-duty crossbows that built to last. If you provide the correct care and maintenance for the R29, we have no doubt it would entertain other seasons.

Accessories

While the accessories included are excellent, there is no change from the inclusions in the R26 edition. The accessories are better than most available on the market, but for the price of this package, we expected it to rise in quality.

Ease of Use

One of the essential features of any weapon is how easy the construction is to handle. The user’s physical attributes will also contribute to the investment in Ravin’s crossbows.

Bowhunters with taller and larger frames or those after extra speed and power might prefer the Ravin R29 crossbow. Its small size makes it an excellent choice for bowhunters who prefer to operate from blinds or up tree stands.

Ravin compares the R29’s ability to a rifle for ranges of 100-yards or less, which is an indication of its extra speed and power that will improve groupings over various distances.

Safety

We recommend having an understanding of how safe the crossbow is to use and what potential hazards come with it.
Fortunately for you, Ravin crossbows are some of the safest crossbows available on the market.

The R29 features a Trac-Trigger system, which provides an industry-leading auto safety and dry-fires inhibitor and boosts the safety profile of Ravin compared to its competitors.

Summary

Overall, if you are looking for a crossbow to provide you with excellent performance on your next outdoor experience, we would highly recommend the Ravin R29 Crossbow.

This compact crossbow with lightweight design makes it an ideal piece of weaponry to bring ease to your next sporting event or hunt, and won’t burden you during prolonged uses.

It provides bowhunters with an excellent range of appropriate accessories. Although we are a little underwhelmed over the lack of improvement, the R29 offers consumers an array of high-quality accessories.

That said, this Ravin crossbow is on the market with a premium price tag attached to it, so if you’re a beginner, we recommend looking for something on the more inexpensive side of the price spectrum.

However, these crossbows don’t discriminate over the level of expertise and have no doubt its smart construction will be compatible with users of all backgrounds.
